The AI Safety Voter Alliance (ASVA) is a campaign organisation dedicated to promoting responsible AI governance in the United Kingdom. References to "we", "us" or "our" refer to ASVA.
2. What data we collect
When you sign the pledge, we collect your:
First name and last name
Email address
Home address including postcode (if given)
Parliamentary constituency
Pledge level and contact preference
When you load the homepage, we use your IP address to estimate your constituency via postcodes.io. This is used only to show you the scorecard for your estimated MP and is not stored or in any way retained.
Our website also uses Cloudflare for security purposes, which may involve processing technical data such as your IP address. Cloudflare is based in the United States; where data is transferred internationally, this is done under UK GDPR-approved safeguards (the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework).
3. Why we collect it
To record your pledge and count members by constituency
To send you occasional essential updates from ASVA, and, if you opt in, to share your name and email address with our partner campaign organisations (ControlAI and PauseAI) so they can send you AI safety news
To report aggregate (anonymised) membership numbers publicly
4. Legal basis
We process your data on the basis of your explicit consent. Essential ASVA updates are a core part of membership and cannot be individually opted out of, but you may withdraw consent to all processing at any time by notifying us that consent is withdrawn. This can be done by emailing your withdrawal of consent to contact@aisafetyvoteralliance.co.uk, which will remove you from our records.
5. How we store and share your data
Your data is stored securely in an encrypted database. We do not sell or rent your data.
If you opt in to receive AI safety news, we share your name and email address with our partner campaign organisations; ControlAI and PauseAI, solely so they can send you their newsletters. These partners act as independent data controllers and process your data under their own privacy policies. You can withdraw this consent at any time (see "Legal basis" above), and we will ask them to remove you. We do not otherwise share your data with third parties except where required by law.
6. Retention
We retain your data for as long as you remain a member, or until you request deletion.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, restrict or object to its processing, and request it in a portable format. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO.
